Roger Allen Story, Jr.

age 43, of Whiting, IN, formerly of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Roger is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Kristin Story (nee Rubino); mother, Linda Jones-Henderson (late Mitchell "Mickey"); sister, Shaina Reynolds; brother, Matthew Reynolds (fiancé Corrie Campfield). He was a beloved uncle to Haley Collins, Rylynn Sechrest, Brycen Sechrest and Raeleigh Reynolds; in-laws: mother in-law, Gail Rubino-Hooper; father in-law, Scott Hooper; sister in-law, Taylor Hooper; brother in-law, Jason Rubino (Karen); sister in-law, Rachael Rubino (David) and sister in-law, Elizabeth Rubino; grandparent in-laws, Stanley Relinski and Anne Marie; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins & countless lifelong friends.

Roger is preceded in death by his father, Roger Allen Story; grandparents, William and Janet Wonn; his dear nephew, Bentley Mihal (Benny Boo Butt); father in-law, Paul Rubino.

Roger was a man of many talents, pursuing his degree in welding, while working with asphalt most of his life. Roger exceeded as a jack of all trades. He had an innate ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went. Known for his sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor, Roger brought laughter and joy to those around him.

He recently reached a long term goal, employed at Maruichi Leavitt Pipe and Tube in Chicago, Illinois. Outside of work, he had a deep passion for belting music, fishing with his wife, and spending time on the lake. He loved riding motorcycles and treasured every moment spent with his wife and close family. He was a fun & wild uncle who always showed up and adored his nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. A Service Celebrating Roger's Life will be held at 7:30 PM. Services conclude at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family for services would be appreciated.
