Ronald "Ron" Nelson Ebert

age 77, of St. John, was called by the Lord on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Kathy (nee Tangney); children: Matthew Ebert, Jami (Joshua) Hedtke, Jody (Joseph) Szymanski, and Kurt (Sarah) Ebert; grandchildren: Callie, Megan, Madeline, and Caleb Hedtke, Kayla and Noah Szymanski, and Rebekah and Abigail Ebert. Preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Adeline Ebert; and brother, Bruce Ebert.

Ron and Kathy were 1964 graduates of Thornridge High School in Dolton. Ron received his bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from University of Illinois in Champaign, IL and went on to work for Acme-Interlake Steel as well as LTV and U.S. Steel. Ron was an avid golfer and history buff. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Sarasota, FL to escape the cold winters. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2023, directly at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9009 Kennedy Ave, Highland, IN with Rev. Eric Kleinschmidt officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Services conclude at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's name to Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund, would be greatly appreciated.
