Rosalee (Rosie) E. Melton
Age 67, of Highland, formerly of Hammond, Indiana.
On Thursday, October 29, 2026 God called his Angel home.
Rosie is survived by her brothers; Rich (Sandi) Melton Jr., Tom (Terry) Melton, Jim (Joan) Melton, and brother-in-law Rudy (Angela) Grasha; precious nephews and nieces, Rich (Taylor Garrison) Melton III, Joe (Cassy) Mitcheltree, Eric (Sasha) Mitcheltree, Jason Melton, Josh (Bree) Melton, Jacob Melton, Tom (Jessica) Melton Jr., Matt (Krystina) Melton, David (Lauren Wallace) Melton, Jeff (Dani Alverez) Melton, Chris Melton, Jessica (Andrew) McGarry, Julie Melton, Rudy (Jade Gallardo) Grasha III, Brandon (Jordyn Dooley) Grasha, Kevin Grasha, and Kathy Grasha; beloved great nephews and nieces, Evan, Owen, Ian, Brielle, Brooklyn, Blair, Archer, Marlee, Emberlynn, and Adalynn. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and God Mother Aunty Cookie, who were always a big part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard “Dick” and Rosemarie Melton, and loving sister Ann Grasha.
Rosie always wore a smile, had an infectious laugh, and never knew a stranger. She could strike up a conversation at any time, and with anyone. Rosie had an amazing memory, and was the family calendar keeping track of everyone’s birthdays and always letting everyone know who was next.
She worked for many years in workshops, the last being Paladin in Highland where she worked for almost 40 years. She was a regular bowler in the Saturday morning league at Plaza in Highland and has many trophies to prove it! She was also a regular member of TOPS in Munster with her sister-in-law Sandi. She never let her limitations hold her back, and she played a mean game of UNO! Rosie collected and sorted through baseball cards and had a legendary collection of Teddy Bears, her favorite being Teddy, that kept her company and took over her living space wherever she was.
A funeral service celebrating Rosie’s life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 6:00PM at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Avenue, Schererville, IN 46375. Friends can meet with the family on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Services conclude at the funeral home. Rosie will be laid to rest next to her parents at St. John St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond, IN.
