Obituary

Rose J. Emmett (nee Legienc)

Age 100, passed away at home, peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who lived a life defined by love, resilience, and service to others.

She is survived by her beloved children, John (Kathleen) Emmett, Nancy Emmett, Dean (Tami) Emmett, and Andrea (Mel Speisman) Slasuraitis; precious grandchildren, Cheryl (Charles) Elliot, Carla (Michael) Sierra, Kevin (Kimberly) Emmett, Ashley (Ross) Nusbaum, Allison Emmett, Abigail Emmett; great grandchildren, Michael Elliot, Charlotte Elliot, Cambria Sierra, Camilla Sierra, Carter Emmett, Chase Emmett, Nora Rose Nusbaum, Beatrice Nusbaum; dear sister, Theresa (late, Steve) Sulski.

Preceded in death by beloved husband, John E. Emmett, Sr.; parents, John and Sophie Legienc; and sisters, Victoria (Frank) Mastey and Helen (Walter) Liss.

In her early years, she worked in the steel mills, reflecting her strength and determination. She later served as a school librarian, a role that allowed her to stay close to her children during their formative years. She also brought joy to many working at a banquet hall and, even into her 80s, continued caring for others as a homemaker and companion.

Family was always her greatest priority. She raised four children and cherished her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren—with one more on the way. Her strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and steadfast dedication to family will live on in the generations she nurtured.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and enduring love. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
