ROY C. KITCHENS

age 92, of Hammond, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015. Roy is survived by his children: Robert Franklin (Maggie) Kitchens, Marilyn Burden, Mary (Conrad) Bastardo, Terry (Norma) Kitchens, Tom Kitchens, Robert Davis (Sue) Kitchens, Jenny (Jay) Coto and Mike (Cheryl) Kitchens; 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; sister Frances (late Bill) Skimeehorn; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving wife Corinne Ruth Kitchens, daughter Ruth Anne (Wendel) Cartwright, infant son Richard Dale Kitchens and four siblings.

Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater and retired from Inland Steel after 34 years. He enjoyed horseracing and cowboy shows.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville with Pastor Drew Brown officiating. At rest Memory Lane Cemetery Schererville. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
