Sandra L. "Sandy" Winston

of Hammond, IN, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. She is survived by her loving children, Sasha (Brandon) Knoche, Robert Craig Winston JR, Shane Winston and Trisha (Casey) St. Clair; precious grandchildren, Bryanna Knoche, Morgan Knoche, Christopher Winston, Jason Knoche, Jonathan Knoche, Grace Winston and Chandler Winston; dear mother, Glenida Winston; loving sisters, Sherry Bond and Donna Sewell. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandra was very athletic in her youth. She played on formal teams for softball, volleyball, and basketball, as well as being a cheerleader. She also excelled in school. She had many talents and when she married, she designed and sewed her five bridesmaid's dresses. Sandy had a green thumb and could revive a plant to lushness in a matter of days. She enjoyed attending her TOPS program, where she was the weight recorder. She was a master of the computer and worked at the Hammond Water Dept for 37 years, retiring as the IT Supervisor. She had a gentle soul and treated everyone with kindness. She loved being a mom and was extremely proud of the children she raised.

Preceded in death by father, Jay Smith; stepfather, William Winston; and sister, Pamela Boltze.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations to family for her grandchildren's future education fund would be appreciated.
