Selena A. Ruiz

age 20, of Wheatfield, IN, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Selena is survived by her parents, Terry and Stacy Ruiz; Grandmothers, Margie Kelly and Doris Ruiz;  Godparents, Jamie Ruiz and Krista Alshouse; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her kitten Pippin whom she adored.

Preceded in death by her grandfathers, Joseph "Pat" Kelly and Bennie Ruiz.

Selena was a 2022 graduate of Kankakee Valley High School where she participated in orchestra, colorguard, and volleyball. She took pride in being a freshman mentor, helping new students adjust to high school life. She was a nighttime stocker at Walmart and embarking on her real estate education. Selena had a great love of music, nature, and animals. She also loved art and expressed herself creatively through many mediums. Most of all she loved her family and friends. She was fiercely loyal to them and protective of others in need.  She was a beautiful soul and touched many lives with her kindness and caring nature. We will remember her strength, resilience, authenticity, enthusiasm for life and her enormous capacity for love.  Her smile will be etched upon our hearts forever.

A Visitation will be held from 2:00PM – 8:00PM on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN. A Prayer Service will be held at 5:00 PM with Fr. Patrick Kalich officiating. Services conclude at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Humane Society of Hobart.
