Steve Bandura

Age 95, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Steve is survived by his loving sons, Timothy (Kathleen) Bandura, Steven (Nan) Bandura, and Gerald (Joyce) Bandura; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 1/2 years, Sophie Bandura (nee Depa); loving brothers, Andrew (late, Florence) Bandura, Michael (still living, Leanor) Bandura, Joseph (still living, Margaret) Bandura; sister, Margaret (late, Theodore) Czalbowski; parents, William and Eva Bandura (nee Petrunchik).

Steve was a proud 1948 graduate of Hammond High School and a lifelong, dedicated employee of NIPSCO, where he spent many years working with commitment and pride. He was an avid fisherman who found great joy in time spent on the water, and a true “green thumb” who loved gardening and nurturing all the things that grew. Steve relished his time on the golf course with his fellow NIPSCO retirees, especially their golf excursions to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Steve was also a Legacy Member of St. Nicholas, where his faith and community were an important part of life.

Steve lived a long meaningful life centered on his family, his work and the simple pleasures he loved most. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, and the deep love he had for those around him.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville, IN. There will be a Parastas service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 8103 Columbia Ave., Munster, IN with Rev. Andrew J. Summerson officiating.
