Susan "Susie" Beth Knaver

age 73, of Valparaiso, IN, formerly of Chico and Elk Grove, CA, was taken home by our Lord on September 30, 2018.  Susie is survived by two loving children: Kevin and Sara Bilyak; granddaughter: Alexa Bilyak; brother, James (Toni) Knaver; sisters: Anne (David) Cunningham and Patti (David) Hoskins; many beloved Livovich and Knaver cousins; dear friends: Mary Ann, Patrice, Rosemary, Cindy, and Jack; as well as everyone whose life she touched.  Susie was preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Anne; brothers: Louis and Thomas; and former husband Milan Bilyak.

Susie was a generous and devoted mother, raising two children while she worked as a nurse to enrich the lives of thousands of patients.  She graduated from Morton High School, Class of 1963, and earned her RN degree from Pima College.  Susie shared her sense of adventure with her family and traveled as often as possible.  She loved dancing, collecting antiques and vintage jewelry and coins, studying genealogy, teaching her granddaughter to play piano, and was a co-founder of a small family business, Paradox Escape Rooms in Valparaiso.  Her generosity of spirit, strength, and sense of humor will live on with all whom she met.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 12, 2018, at 10:00 am at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN 46311 with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating.  Interment at St. John's Cemetery in Hammond, IN.  Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 am until the time of Mass.
