Teresa “Terrie” M. Nowinski (nee Loda)

was called home to the Lord on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the age of 82. A resident of Crown Point, Indiana, formerly of Chicago, Terrie lived a life devoted to her family, education, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

She is survived by her loving sons, Scott (Alison) Nowinski and Brian (Tricia) Nowinski; and her cherished grandchildren, Adam, Aidan, and Joshua, who brought her great joy and pride.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joseph Loda and Nora Loda (nee Mierczak), and her brother, Jerry Loda.

Born and raised in Chicago, Terrie was a proud graduate of Loyola University Chicago, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1965, followed by a Master’s Degree in Mathematics at Purdue University Calumet. She was proudly crowned Miss Loyola in 1965. She dedicated her professional life to teaching mathematics at Lake Central High School, where she shared her knowledge and passion for learning with generations of students before retiring.

Terrie enjoyed the things that made life meaningful. She had a love for playing chess and was known for being thrifty, always appreciating the value of a good bargain. She also enjoyed taking trips with senior clubs, creating memories and enjoying new experiences along the way. Above all, Terrie treasured spending quality time with her grandchildren. Whether cheering them on at their sporting events or enjoying their musical performances, she took great pride in their accomplishments and cherished every opportunity to be part of their lives.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Avenue, Schererville, Indiana.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 16, 2026, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1 W. Wilhelm Street, Schererville, Indiana 46375. 10:00 AM prayers at the funeral home Friday morning with burial to follow after Mass at St. Michael Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Church Food Pantry in Terrie’s memory.
