Theodore "Ted" Bales
age 66, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jacqueline Bales; beloved daughters: Jessica (Vincent) Petrozza, Janice (Roy) Meyer, Stephanie Bales; and grandchildren, Vincent Petrozza II, and Rylan Petrozza. He is preceded in death by his parents William M. and Mary L. Bales; and brother William Marion Bales Jr.
Ted was a 1976 graduate of T.F. South High School in Lansing, IL. He is best known as the heart and soul of Old Glory Tavern in Hammond. The tavern wasn't just a business to Ted, it was a gathering place where friendships blossomed, memories were made, and good times were shared.
An avid sports enthusiast, Ted's loyalty lay with the Cubs and Bears. His joy knew no bounds, especially when the Bears scored. It was a moment celebrated by his iconic ritual of running through the tavern with "Lil Bear", ensuring everyone joined in the fist-bumping festivities.
Ted's love for his family was paramount; he cherished every moment spent with loved ones, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11:00AM-2:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Avenue, Schererville, IN 46375. A Service Celebrating Ted's Life will be held at 1:00 PM. Services conclude at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
