Theodore (Fr. Gerard) Ardelean
age 88, Passed away on March 12, 2017 in Bradenton, Florida. Born in East Chicago, Indiana on August 8, 1928, he was the son of the late George and Mary Ardelean. Ted attended St. Joseph Seraphic Seminary run by the Franciscan Friars in Westmont, IL (Class of '48) and was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest on June 24, 1955 in the Church of St. Francis at Teutopolis, IL. Reverend Gerard T. Ardelean, O.F.M. celebrated his First Solemn Mass in St. Mary's Church in East Chicago. Fr. Gerard was one of the founders of Padua High School in Parma, Ohio in 1961, serving as Treasurer. He was also in residence at St. Jude's Parish in Cleveland, Ohio. Later employed by the Petersen Nut Company in Cleveland Ohio, Ted then retired in Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Aurelia (Ardelean) Ginger, Victor Ardelean, Mary (Ardelean) Ginger, Sister Marlene (Theresa) Ardelean, P.H.J.C. (Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ), Sister Marilyn (Emma) Ardelean P.H.J.C., Sister Lucille (Rose) Ardelean P.H.J.C., Anne Ardelean, John Ardelean, and George Ardelean. He is survived by Sister-In- laws Mary Lou (George) Ardelean (East Chicago, IN/Charleston, SC) and Anita (John) Ardelean (Hammond, IN). Surviving are many Nieces and Nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Bosco Church, Hammond, Indiana on Saturday, August 5 th at 10am, celebrated by Father Richard Orlinski, followed immediately by Burial in St. John – St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
