Todd Anderson, 55, of Paw Paw, MI, formerly of Portage, IN, passed away at home with loved ones on December 18, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in VA, Todd spent his childhood in Chillicothe, IL and Framingham, MA, and graduated from Illinois Valley Central High School in 1984. Todd joined the US Navy in August 1984 and was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland for two years, and then on the USS McCandless. He was honorably discharged as PO2 in 1988.
After serving in the Navy, Todd worked for Cater Inn Banquet Center in Peoria, IL, before going to work for Astroguide Satellite, in LaSalle, IL. Between his service in the Navy and his career at Astroguide, he spoke often that he was able to travel to many places including England, France, Italy, Amsterdam, Turkey, Israel, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ghana, Cuba, The Bahamas, Mexico, and Canada.
Todd attended dealer school for blackjack and roulette before embarking on his new career in the casino industry. He worked as a dealer at Par-A-Dice Casino in Peoria, IL. He then moved to IN where he worked as a supervisor for table games at Casino Aztar in Evansville, IN, and on to Horseshoe, Casino in Hammond, IN where he worked for over 22 years.
More recently, Todd moved to Paw Paw, MI where he bought and sold antique glassware in his store, Anderson Antiques, and assisted as Operations Mgr. for The Lakeside Inn until his death. He was a member of the Paw Paw Lions.
Todd enjoyed golfing and an occasional visit to the casino. He also enjoyed baking and spending time with friends and family. He was always up for having fun and shared his humor and smile graciously. He loved Christmas and Halloween and spending time with the children in his life.
Todd became an ordained wedding officiant to perform the ceremony for friends' weddings. He began helping with American Cancer Society Relay for Life events, Making Strides and Golf Outing for the American Cancer Society after surviving skin cancer, and continued with those events until his death. He was also an "Official Hugger" for the Special Olympics.
Todd was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Linda and Donald Stone, of Bradford IL; his father and stepmother, Donald and Charlotte Anderson, of Dacula, GA; his sister, Dina Macumber, of CT; and stepbrother, Terry Stone, of MO.
He is survived by his sister, Laura (Frank) Todaro of Dover, NH; stepsisters Marilyn (Tom) Wilson of Bradford, IL; Beth (Brent) Skinner of MO; stepbrother Rob (Francie) Stone of MO; and his very dear friends Janet & Alan Wartman of Paw Paw, MI, and Beloved former spouse Amy Applegate. He will also be missed by his many extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend deepest and heartfelt gratitude to the Wartman's for the love and care given to Todd. Your valued friendship has not gone unnoticed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home , 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. Interment of ashes in Bradford, IL will be on a date to be announced in the future. Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or American Cancer Society for those who wish to do so.
