Obituary

Vincent "Jim" Spataro

Age 87, of Highland, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025. He is survived by his loving children, Natalie (Bob) Rauworth, Denese (Mike) Paszko, Vince Spataro, Diann (Eldon) Lindsay; precious grandchildren, Steffanie (Patrick) Lowczyk, Amanda (Andrew) Schrader, Rachel (Joe) Russotti, Christian Paszko, Kevin Paszko; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Edmond, Emmett, Emery, Castiel; brother, Joe Spataro; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Beth Spataro; sister, Rose Bish; and brother, Louis Spataro.

Shortly after high school, Jim served his country with honor as a member of the United States Army, a service that would mark the beginning of his life-long commitment to discipline and service. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Jim spent the next 42 years of his life working at LTV Steel, where he built a strong reputation as a reliable and hardworking employee. He took great pride in his work and was known for his loyalty and diligence.

Jim had a deep love for sports, with a particular passion for Purdue University athletics and the Chicago White Sox. Whether cheering for his teams or attending games, he found joy in the camaraderie of fellow fans and the thrill of the game. His appreciation for sports extended beyond watching, as he also enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, often spending hours each day in his favorite chair, pen in hand, tackling the toughest clues.

An avid traveler and fisherman, Jim spent many weekends at Gravel Lake in Michigan, where he loved to fish and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Those who knew Jim well remember his serene presence at the lake, where he found solace in nature's beauty and in the quiet moments with loved ones.
