William “Bill” N. Hashu

age 83, of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Bill is survived by his loving son, Andrew (Lisa) Hashu; precious grandchildren, Melynda and Hailey Hashu, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terry Hashu (nee Kaytar); parents, George Hashu and Anna Hashu (nee DeBold); loving brother, George Hashu; loving sister, Barbara Hashu; precious pets, Lucky, Bear and Jr.

A proud graduate of Hammond High School, Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he became a dedicated employee at Union Tank Compnay in East Chicago, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. Bill was also a proud member of the American Legion.

In his free time, Bill found great joy in fishing and target shooting. He treasured the outdoors, enjoyed spending time with the family, and created countless memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Bill’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave, Schererville, IN 46375, with a service at 7:30 PM. Interment with military honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery, Elwood, IL, on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
