William Ek

age 82, of Schererville, Indiana, was called home to the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2026.

William is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Theresa Ek; sister, Wendy Ek; nieces, Cindy (Bob) Dau, Sandra Portolese, and Clara Siebert; nephews, Claude Ek-Lenoir, Christopher (Danielle) Siebert, and Aidan Siebert; great-nieces Ashley (Marc) Murzyn and Rachel (Doug) Schaap; along with many great-great nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Raymond and Emily Ek; devoted step-mother, Agnes Ek; and loving sisters, Sandra Ek and Marion Helmick.

Above all else, William’s life was guided by his deep faith and close relationship with God. His steadfast belief provided him with strength, hope, and purpose throughout every season of life. He lived with kindness, humility, and compassion, serving as an example of faith to his family and friends.

He was a proud United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. William carried a deep sense of patriotism throughout his life. His service to his country demonstrated the strength of his character and commitment to others.

William will be remembered for his warm heart, love of sports, crossword puzzles, trains, reading and enduring faith that shaped his life. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A Funeral Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2026, DIRECTLY at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy ave, Schererville, IN 46375. With a Funeral Service to be held at 12:00 PM officiated by Chaplen Joe Mollet. Burial to follow afterwards at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421.
