Zygmunt J. Dross

age 90, of Hammond, passed away Tuesday December 13, 2016. Zygmunt is survived by his children: Donna (Michael) Moore, Zygmunt (Robin) Dross Jr., Deborah (Anthony) Ackerman, Denise Moore, Daniel Dross, Danita Stringer, Doreen Dross, Dolores (Christopher) Wantroba and Darlene "Poopsie" Dross, also special son-in-law Rick Moore; 29 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Donna, parents Francis and Salka Tojak-Dross; 6 sisters, 3 brothers and daughter-in-law Charlene Dross.

Zygmunt proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and participated in action against the enemy at Saipan, Tinian, Marianas Islands, Iwo Jima and Volcano Islands. He retired from the City of Hammond after 38 years of service working for the Street Department. Zygmunt was a member of American Legion Post 168. He loved fishing but his favorite pastime was playing poker. Zygmunt was a longtime area resident and a member for St John Bosco Church in Hammond.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 16, 2106 from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave Schererville, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Catholic Church 7113 Columbia ave Hammond with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. Zygmunt will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Cremation at Solan Pruzin to follow.
